In just six days, you’ll embark on an adventure that showcases some of the most iconic and captivating aspects of Kenya’s natural beauty and rich biodiversity.
Starting in Nairobi, Kenya’s vibrant capital, this safari will take you to several remarkable destinations, each offering its own unique experiences.
Day 1:
Arrive JKIA-Nairobi-Samburu Game Reserve.
0630hrs; depart with picnic breakfast headed northwards towards the expansive wilderness of Samburu. You will arrive in the dramatic semi-arid scrubland of the Northern Frontier in time for lunch .After lunch, depart for a game drive till dusk.
Samburu Game Reserve is essentially lava plain that features steep sided gullies and rounded hills wherein the 32-kilometre Ewaso Nyiro River provides both the central feature of the landscape and the lifeblood of the ecosystem. The vegetation comprises predominantly acacia woodland interspersed with bush, grass and scrubland, which is broken here and there by small rugged hills whilst the meandering loops of the river area bordered by a narrow gallery of riverine woodland in which acacia and doum palm flourish. This is a dry country ecosystem and is, therefore, prone to large variations in the animal populations as they move in search of water and pasture. And, whilst poaching has completely wiped out the rhino herds, lion are often seen while the burgeoning elephant herds are responsible for the ruination of several sections of riverside forests. The range of rare species also includes reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich and gerenuk whilst the bird life is diverse and prolific and includes marsh.
Day 2:
Full Day in Samburu Game Reserve.
0700 hrs, breakfast at the lodge after which you will do a morning game drive and return with mid-morning at leisure to enjoy the Lodge facilities and lunch at 1300hrs.At 1530 hrs depart for a game drive to explore the vast plains and view the animals just before nightfall.
Day 3:
Samburu Game Reserve- Lake Nakuru National Park
Early morning game and scenery viewing drive after breakfast as you exit the Samburu. Proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park, a birdlife haven (Flamingoes) at the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Lake Nakuru is known for hosting some endangered but beautiful species. You’re sure to see rare Rothschild’s Giraffe along with white rhino, especially along the lakeshore. The park is also sanctuary to one of Kenya’s largest populations of black rhino. Arrival will be in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon you will embark on a game drive before going back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Masai Mara National Park.
0730 hrs, take breakfast at the camp and head southwest for the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve.Arrive in time for lunch and a little bit of relaxation. Head for an afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara Game Reserve. During the game drive, you have a chance to see the Big Five including the Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, and the elusive Leopard. Conclude the safari and head to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Maasai Mara Game Reserve covers 700 Square miles of magnificent wilderness. It is the Africa of the imagination; endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands studded with hazy hills. It’s the land of African legend: Lion are abundant throughout the park, as are the elephants, giraffes, and a variety of gazelle species and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly seen and, less commonly, rhino. The annual wildebeest migration, one of nature’s few remaining wildlife spectacles, occurs in the Mara where the big animals and their predators are to be present in abundance. Several species of Bee-Eater, the flying rainbow that heads the list of the Mara’s birds, occur in the reserve. As well as wildlife, the Maasai Mara is also home to many members of the colorful Maasai tribe who June be seen around the borders of the park – Morans (warriors) loping across the plains, young boys herding goats, or elders grouped under a tree discussing matters of the day.
Day 5:
Full Day in Masai Mara.
07:00hrs; breakfast followed by a full day game drive with picnic lunch box that will take you to the Mara River with a possibility to see the great migration of wildebeests as they cross the river full of hippos and the crocodiles.
